German Potato Salad

This is less a recipe, than a suggestion. Because I don't measure often when I cook. Only when I bake.

But with
4 medium red potatoes
~ 3 tablespoons mayo
~2 tablespoons vinegar
~ 2 tablespoons whole seed mustard
4 slices of bacon, cooked and chopped. Using an ulu would have made this much easier, or if I had cooked it crispier.

Lemon Raspberry Muffins

Muffins the second recipe
Smitten Kitchen- Lemon Raspberry Muffins
SO have you ever started making a recipe, you know measuring out the sugar and butter and creaming them... then realizing you are missing an ingredient? I do, constantly. This time it was eggs. Of course I had started baking at 10:40, so too late to go them. If I had been cooking, not baking or if I had it I would have used apple sauce. But that isn't really abundant in my kitchen. So I used a oil to water ratio of 1:2 tablespoons, for a total of 3 tablespoons, apparently the weight of an egg. Between this substitution and my lack of a mixer to go the creaming, I will give these muffins the benefit of the doubt regarding the texture and make them again. They were a little dense with a thick crumb.

My inexperience caused me to push the raspberries too far into the dough so they became little pits, which is still cute and delicious.

The real downfall of this recipe is that I skinned 2 lemons for peel, and didn't use any of the juice. I want more lemony-ness!

Look how puffy and happy they look then...

Home

As I walking home today, it smelled like lilies. But I couldn't see where they were and it made me sad. I miss driving around with my mom growling whenever I saw tiger lilies.

So songs that remind me of home- (and most of these probably don't apply to you sorry!)
idk just a memory I share with my mom-

and now the only song my brother and I agree on-

So my mother has been patient with all my music moods through the years. Since middle school I always controlled the music when we drove, and I need to thank her for that.
Blink 182 has been by biggest obsession, always. She drove up to Albany to see them with me but the bailed : (

my moms 2nd favorite band

my moms favorite band- who she saw with out me lame!

I wanted the song- make yourself at home, but I couldn't find it
I love the line- I'm out making you proud

Sameness

At what point does your work persona become part of your self definition?
I desperately want to dye my hair again. I want to stand out. I hate this city of phonies, all vying for power. But I act like one of them, waking up early, commuting while reading in my $250 suit. I feel like an imposer, I want to get home and change back to myyy clothes right after work. I am so much more comfortable in a band shirt. There are certain things that I would wear normally like this floral print dress, because it is so bright and well fitted that I have to wear a sweater over it. I like to think that someday someone will see me commuting and recognize that I am always listening to music. I want someone to ask what I am listening to. Recognize that I am trying to not be one of them. But don't I eventually want to work here? I walked by the IMF and WB and though cool I could have an office there! Isn't that why I am not getting a full sleeve of tattoos? (ignoring the pain and cost)
Maybe not wanting to be one of the crowd it indie, but thats how I have been for forever. I blame my mom. What did she think she was teaching me, decorating our house with south west stuff. Seriously we have the most kachinas I have ever see outside of Arizona, which is so out of place in our neighborhood of box assembled colonials.
